Thanks for the flag...My school follows the American curriculum so I doubt they would adopt Cambridge press textbooks.

English textbooks for International Schools

Anyone know of k-12 English textbook companies that would fit in the learning context of international schools? We currently use Mcdougal Little but I believe that it books, especially grammar and writing, do not target the skills our students lack in. These textbooks target NS and not NNS though I try to tailor it to my students's needs. One such example is that the usage of prepositions and collocations are not present at all and students have never known or studied b4 collocations although…See More

Of course you should set up a private group on facebook. You can use also an application platform to deliver courses on facebook such as "Teach the people" and much more. But I think it is not practical to use it for educational purposes.…

Nothing beats edmodo in case you want to upload assignment files, update on homework, assignments, and test days. It works like twitter but it has an enhanced security. Try it instead of a wiki or any other web-based application. Ammar

Hi Ammar,

With your interest in Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording you might find of interest.

Welcome Ammar... I created a Ning for gifted kids last summer (grades 8,9, &10). It's time consuming on the front end. but worth the effort. My students had fun with all of the gadgets and apps, but they also had some great discussions.

I'd love to know what novels, poetry and/or short stories you teach if you have a chance to list some. I know it's not exactly a classroom 2.0 type question, but I love finding out about world literature and what people are teaching in other countries. It's great for our students to know too.

I like Google Battle, I am going to use it too, thanks! I started teaching 7th grade English this year and have not updated my profile yet. Your site looks great! Some of my favorite Web 2.0 tools for writing are PicLits, lexipedia, Wordle, Magnetic Poetry, and Save the Words
I head up our middle school literary magazine, so I am always looking for creative writing tools, and unique ways of teaching writing.

I just checked out your blogs and they are pretty impressive. Even though I am a 5th grade English teacher, I found a lot of your technology tools and information to be something that I can apply in the classroom. Great work!
