Written by Michael Edwardes and Published in 1984 this paperback is now a historical cameo of Industrial Relations in the UK motor industry in the '70's.

However, one phrase hit me hard when I first read the book and has stuck with me ever since:

'If I have reached any conclusions from my experiences so far it is this: If there is a touchstone to human attitudes, that touchstone is change. How nations, how businesses, how men and women come to terms with that change is a measure of themselves.'

Change the word 'businesses' for 'schools' and change 'men and women' for 'boys and girls' - and then reflect on what we as teachers are trying to do.
