I am reading The Reader as I want to read the book before the movie comes out. I also recommend Don't Bother Me, Mom, I'm Learning if you want to read about technology and education and impacts.
I have just started Orson Scott Card's newest Ender book Ender in Exile.
How is it so far? I am a big fan of Card's work. I am currently listening to Ender's Game. I read it when it first came out but I am enjoying the audiobook.
Ken Follet's World Without End
Just finished Cormac McCarthy's "The Road." It was fantastic!
Here Comes Everybody: The power of Organizing without Organizations
A book I finished not too long ago that continues to impact my view of education, particularly implementing "change" is The New Meaning of Educational Change by Michael Fullan.
Mindset: the new psychology of success by Carol Dweck. It will change the way you think about yourself and teaching :-)
I'm reading Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers, Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta, and Jonathan Kellerman's new one Bones. Last month read The Road and Against Medical Advice by James Patterson. With kids in the last few month's 4th grade The Adventures of Hugo Cabret and The Mysterious Benedict Society, 5th The Mysterious Benedict Society's Perilous Journey, and with 5th and 6th a dozen sci-fi short stories.
I'm reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.
I read it many years ago, but forgot most of it ;-).
It's good, but I feel like choking Roark sometimes!
Rand bothers me. I heard the audio book and it was creepy to hear a male narrator reciting the female lines.
You and I will never be reading the same thing!! Do you discuss what you are reading with your wife? I don't think so. :)

How would you find an introduction to "real" computer programming for kids? Back in the day we used QBasic with 5th and 6th graders who wanted an intro to programming. Where would I start today? Remember that I plan to be ABSOLUTELY NO HELP to the students.
