My district has a Tandberg unit on loan to try it out. We're doing a virtual field trip to the Bronx Zoo amongst a few other things. Our main consideration is using the media as part of a Distance Learning Lab. The is an entire DL network in place in NY State. Here is a link to our regional network. This program is of course mainly for post elementary, but you may find it of some interest. Your state may have a similar program. If you don't have a Distance Learning program in mind have the equipment on site for virtual field trips. Our elementary school plans on using the Tandberg Portable video for that reason. BTW, how do you like the Tandberg equipment so far? I'm interested to hear what else you find out and end up doing.

Thanks for the tips Scott, I will definitely check out your regional network. So far we have had only a few introductory sessions with schools within our own School division. I think we will be using the unit for a lot of district video meetings, in-servicing, and professional development. I would really like to see what is out there in terms of classroom applications. Virtual field trips sound great, I guess my next question would be to ask if there is a listing of links to available virtual field trips.

My district is looking at Tandberg's setup. What has your experience been like since it was installed? Our main question relates to accessing content - what do you find is out there? Have you been able to find other resources with similar setups without significant research time?

We haven't done a lot, however, in our division we have used it a lot for pd opportunities and inter-school committee meetings. We have also done some collaborative work with other students in the division. My class Grade 2 have participated in 2 video conference events. We have our school librarian set these up, there is a fee for each session. This came across my laptop today, check it out if you ha vent already. I'll keep you posted Rod of anything that I find that may be of help.
