Question on leadership

Posted on August 20, 2008 at 1:44pm 0 Comments

I posted this in the leadership group too.

As I continue my search for a position in Educational Leadership one question keeps haunting me that has been brought up three times during interviews. How can you as an instructional leader improve a mediocre teacher's performance?

That's an interesting and extremely difficult question to answer and I've given two different answers to the same question.

What can one do to improve a mediocre teacher's performance? In… Continue

Since re-establishing my classroom website I've discovered what a pain it is to transfer (css) files. I began to just copy html code from one file to another but... Unfortunately, the old style sheets are coming with the copy and its to cumbersome to avoid. So, I'll be starting all html code fresh. Maybe I'll even dabble in a little xhtml?

Any suggestions out there on rebuilding a website?

Website is back up after a 6 month vacation.

I finally brought my classroom website back to life after 6 months of downtime. When the babies arrived I just didn't have the energy to keep it up to date. The url is www.mrcarlsonsclass.com. I've got a ton of material I have to transfer over to the new server so just the home page is up at the moment.

Hey Peter,

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!

That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.

Do you mind passing my message along to students and your colleagues again?

Thanks,
Jack

Hi Peter,

With your interest in Education Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.

Hi Peter!

Happy New Year! I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a nationwide Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get more students involved from Connecticut!

You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
