The first technology I remember really enjoying was a giga pet. For some reason I thought those we just the coolest things. You know, you would bring home a dog or cat and have to feed it and love it and bathe it. It would make noises every time it wanted something. When you first brought it home, it was a baby and would need you to take care of it all the time. It would constantly beep until it got "old enough" to not need attention all the time. I distinctly remember resetting it one night. After I got tired of playing with it I put it away and tried to go to sleep but the thing kept beeping every two seconds! Apparently there was no off switch, or at I wasn't smart enough to simply turn it off. That night I remember putting inside of layer of socks upon sock upon socks... I could still hear a faint beeping s I then stick it as far under my pile of clothes that I could.. That seemed to do the trick and I had a peaceful sleep free of beeping.

Wow Giga Pets! I remember those - mostly because my little sister was in to them. I was not, they were for 'kids'. I think I almost remember some schools trying to use those in Home Economics class - as a replacement for that "Carry around an Egg for two weeks" assignment. Did they do that when you were in High School? Yay for beep-free sleeping!
