Tyrants of Academe

I just finished Jeff Jarvis’s WWGD. An excellent, if not perfect, read that I highly recommend to colleagues in education. There are some things missing, however, with his chapter on education. He didn’t go far enough.

I am thinking specifically about the role that certain institutions play in the hording of research. For example, when you click… Continue

How’d I Miss Ed Sheeran Singing About How School and Home Differ on Sesame Street?

How’d I Miss Ed Sheeran Singing About How School and Home Differ on Sesame Street?

You gotta love this music video of Ed Sheeran leading the Sesame Street crew in a song about the differences between who children are at home versus school–and how to manage those unique spaces. There’s a lesson in the song, too, for policy makers. While school is a vital part of society, it alone cannot …

Here’s the clip: Tom Liam Lynch, who runs the website InsideSchools and previously consulted with …

Hi Tom,

If the NYC Lab School is interested in Education Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.

Hi Tom. Hope you're enjoying the winter break. I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get NYC students involved. Please let me know. Thanks!
