Hello! I have been contemplating where my carrier should be for my classroom website and I need some advice. I am looking for a home base that will allow me to blog, podcast, share photos, videos and post announcements. More importantly, I am looking for a place that is password protected. I've been toying with weebly and teacherweb. Weebly is free, but not password protected. Teacherweb has password protection, but its somewhat expensive.

Thanks you in advice for your feedback!

I think the password protect feature is what is going to drive your costs up. I use Weeby for my class website and for my own blog, and I have to say I really like it. It is fast and reliable. I would ask yourself why you want a password? Can you adjust your content so that you don't need it, or seek appropriate permissions from parents? Or, if you know what your are doing with a bit of extra coding, you could might be able to add http://mashable.com/2008/05/03/5-free-tools-to-password-protect-you..." target="_blank">something like this to Weebly.
I think Ning will allow you to do all you are looking for. If you want to remove ads, it costs extra 25 a month.
I've also been using Weebly which I found to be very intuitive and fast. If you pay for the pro version of Weebly you can password protect your site. I have tried most of the other sites and fo me Weebly wins easily. You can check out my website here. If you have your own domain it also has googleapps integration.
Hey, we use the same Weebly theme! Check it out... www.educationtechnologyblog.com
