I would like to create a website to use as an online portfolio and function as a place to host reflections when I start to teach. As a new teacher with limited experience, what kind of important things would you recommend that I have on this website?

I'm not a heavy blogger and am concerned about lack of content, especially not having taught yet. What can I do to get more involved in introspection? What other ideas can I focus on when starting out as a new teacher blogger?

If possible, please post site urls! Thanks in advance :)

BTW: Here is my work in progress: http://mscheska.wordpress.com. Comments and suggestions on improvement please!
When I clicked on your link I was greeted with a clean, refreshing main page. It doesn't overwhelm the visitor with too much text or graphics. Continue on ... what an outstanding beginning!
Thank you for taking the time to help me. Thank you also for the encouragement! :D
I suggest you take a good look at Google Sites, which is a quite handy tool to get all of your profile, blog and documents in one place for you to share with the world.

I modestly suggest you take a look at my (early) take at how i did it and then look at a pro http://sites.helenbarrett.net/portfolio/Home

Here are some instructions on how to do it: http://sites.helenbarrett.net/portfolio/how-to

So just go to http://sites.google.com and start having fun.
Vahid,
Thanks for the suggestion and resources! Do you have a current Google site?
I do, but it's mostly in Spanish, and still quite basic: http://sites.google.com/site/vahidm/ you're welcome to visit and drop some feedback right here. :)

(sorry, i just discovered i wasn't "following" the conversation, so i missed your reply for a few weeks)
Hi Lorena,

First, I want to say thanks for the idea. I am and educator with good experience but have been out of the classroom for a decade. When I am ready to go back to work I'd love to have a website that schools interviewing me to look at for an idea of what I can offer.

I'd say you are off to a good start. The recommended blogs on the right side are good. That got my attention right away.

Is there any way you can hi-light a specific lesson or presentation that you have given? Can you imbed some video or your voice in some way? Do you have some student work from your student-teaching that can be shown as a photograph that demonstrates that students completed a lesson directed by you in an interesting/creative/analytical (take your pick)way?

Also, and this is picky, fix the word "bare". Use "bear" with me instead of the kind meaning no clothes...tee hee.

Again, thanks for the idea.

Linda,
Youre welcome! Thanks for the ideas. I'm currently rooting through my artifacts for samples. Thanks for spotting my grammar mistake also-- definitely dont want that! Good luck with your own! I'd love to see it :)
