I found out about PollEverywhere.com from a thread here last year and liked it a ton. It is essentially a cell-phone based voting tool but it does much, much more. I truly believe that in 5 years or so classroom response devices will be out and services like this will take their place, at least in higher education.

Since I've played with it last year they've added two huge (in my eyes at least) features. First, there are now educator-specific accounts. They are significantly cheaper than the commercial account and the free educator account offers more than the standard free account as well.

Secondly, they've added live comments via twitter. There was a thread recently on cell use in the classroom and I talked about using Wiffiti to have students text in questions. That still works (and works well) but PE now can do it too and with all the added functionality and control seems to be the better option.

This is without a doubt one of my favorite web tools and I highly recommend checking it out... even if your school is going to a strict no electronics policy like mine :p
