Drawing Tablets but not for Art?

I use a drawing tablet for my virtual white board, but I was debating as to whether or not it would be worth while to get one for each student laptop.  Is anyone else using drawing tablets that for activities other than art/cad?

What are your experiences?

 - Tough/easy to teach the use of it?

 - Break easily?

 - Good software or use ideas?
