Career networking in high school

We are trying to formulate a plan for high school students which would involve career education. For instance, if a student has already decided on a college major and career, how can we maximize their experience for that career in high school? We could plan for meetings with professionals in their field and even internships but we were wondering what others did to enhance these career choices?
