Voicethread 2.0 -- Please help some English as a Second/Foreign language students!

Hi,

I"ve been making voicethreads for language learning the past 6 months. I'm their biggest fan and you can see the voicethreads here.

The are meant ultimately for students of English as a second or foreign language. I'll be sending the teachers I train, to use them with their students as part of a requirement for their licensed training. But before then, I'd love if some teachers could use them with their students and provide some great examples for the EFL / ESL students. It would be fantastic and help the foreign language students.

Any comments on the voicethreads are appreciated and any/all are free to use/participate.

Thanks,

David

Hi David, I am also a great fan of voicethreads. We have not gone edVT yet and just use the free educational version. I love their backup support and the fact that you can use voice, video or text for the comments. It is a great choice for language teachers.
Sample of ESL/EFL Voicethreads here: http://voicethread4education.wikispaces.com/EFL+%26+ESL

I am collecting examples of how educators are using Voicethread in their classroom or for professional development on a wiki at: http://voicethread4education.wikispaces.com/

My plan is to share these examples with other technology teachers who provide professional development in their schools.

Feel free to add your own examples or links to resources. Thanks in advance,

Thanks for reminding me of the wiki Colette. I had seen it previously but it just slipped off my radar screen :) My cup runneth over. A few very familiar faces on that fine voicethread about Brazil! Seems the world is getting to be a very small place. I'll add my own plus the others I've written about in the past in numerous blog posts and also here on Classroom 2.0.

I will remind other educators as Anne mentioned -- for a nominal fee, teachers get an education account at Voicethread. One thing I applaud them for doing.

Funny this topic has come up, playlisting. I am doing some consulting for a new web 2.0 learning platform and just had a long discussion both about Voicethreads failing in this regard and the fact that playlists will be a crucial aspect of the new "tailored" or personalized learning of the near future. Curriculum, little by little , is being seen as not content but the process and skills of interacting with the "world". Content / knowledge is ubiquitous and everywhere in the web 2.0 world. A breath of fresh air and I do hope we continue along the road of "grace" rather than "goods".
