About Me
Prior to launching my teaching career, I was employed as a supervisor and social worker in community mental health, working primarily with the chronically mentally ill and discharge planning of the institutionalized from state mental hospitals, assisting with clients return to their local communities. I have now been a public school teacher for 23 year and still love to teach.

This year (2008/2009) I teach grades 10 and 11 ("World History to 1900" & "20th & 21st Century Studies," respectively), with an elective course in "The Holocaust & Genocidal Studies."

As a member of Project TEACH (Teaching Exemplars of American Constitutional History) for the past six years, I am looking forward next year to teaching primarily "American History to 1900", while continuing with my course on the Holocaust. This is a distance learning class broadcast to two additional high schools in Kanawha County. This past semester, I developed a classroom Blog to better help with the facilitation and communication between these three classes. It was an experiment on which I hope to expand as I gain more experience and advice/ideas from other educators.

I am very interested in media technology and at this point am just trying to keep my head above water in the digital age, learning how to use new technologies and preparing my students for learning in the 21st Century. At times it seems overwhelming and time is always an issue.
