About me

Hello my name is Rob. I coordinate and teach an entry level 2 year Primary Care Paramedic program and a post-diploma Advanced Care Paramedic program at a community college in Ontario, Canada. I am a paramedic by profession and have been teaching on an off during my entire 25 year paramedic career. When it comes to technology and am sensitive to the notion that pedagogy must drive technology and inspired by the posibilities technology offers.

Here are some of my current techology related projects:
- I have been creating Podcasts and enhanced Podcasts since 2005 (using audacity for audio recordings and Adobe Presenter and Elluminate for enhanced Podcasts. Last year I started giving nmy students audio assignments where they record medical reports based on a pre-determined sequence of information and a rubric.
- I have been using Elluminate for synchonous online learning since 2008.
- I started creating Wiki assignments this year for two of my classes
- Our students use PDAs to track their hospital and field competencies.

The following presentation on Chest Trauma is a Podcast I recorded on March 23, 2009

Webcasting: Synchronous eLearning in the 21st Century

My blog is at Paramedic Tutor.

Thanks. I saw that t-shirt at Goodwill and thought it would be perfect for our manikins.

Hello Rob and welcome to classroom2.0 You certainly come with one of the more unusual teaching areas. I teach in Australia and as I live in a small rural, remote type area, my husband and I are members of the CERT team (Community Emergency Response Team) so we are trained continually in first aid and go to an ambulance callout, keep the patient comfortable until the ambulance comes, as the ambulance is at least 30 mins away.

Hi Rob,
eNoteFile is notetaking and filing software which allows users to create, sync and share their electronic notes.
Paramedics would find it useful I think.
Regards,
Bruce
