- I'm not a new teacher; in fact, I took time off from teaching to raise four children and gradually became more interested in Gifted and Talented education as I eased myself back into the public school setting, first by subbing and then by assuming a full time position. I often feel like a new teacher though, because I'm frequently teaching topics for the first time, which can be both exciting and challenging.
