- My name is Gwen Smith and I’m from Franklin NC! I’m a high school Social Studies teacher with the best students in the state. This is my fifth year of teaching in rural Western NC. I teach Civics and Economics, Contemporary Law and Justice, and World History. I love my job because of my students. They make me laugh, cry, mad, angry, happy, jealous, and everything in between. I’m in my third and LAST (Thank the good Lord!) year of grad school! I will be working with an area historical society this summer as an intern then I’m finished! My masters degree will be in Social Sciences Education.
