I was born in the late 60's to parents who were participating in their own ways. I'm a tree hugger, a libertarian, an extremist on both ends of the spectrum, a father of five, a muslim, a people lover, a quasi vegetarian, a brute and many other things - hopefully with a bias towards the positive.
I've done a lot of different jobs, but somehow always ended up in the technology teaching side, whether it was running the projector at the movie theater as a 15-year old, or teaching skiing after college. BSLA at Georgetown and MS/MIS at UVA, between which I worked in retail computer sales/management, and after which i went into Big Five consulting for 3 years. Then dot-bomb, then consulting for CPCC in Charlotte, which became a faculty position, which I've done for about 7 years now. Fingers in lots of pies- Self anointed NC Moodle Evangelist, small business owner (KNEDIT, LLC), professional and volunteer presenter/preacher on IT, education, Islam.
First PC was a MacSE but I wanted a portrait display and more RAM, so I did the upgrade on a sheepskin, thinking to pad the table... didn't know anything about static... been mucking around ever since, but MS degree gave me big picture, and 3 years of reading Computerworld, Inc, forbes, fortune fast company and a few others stuffed my brain in weird ways.
4. Funny story or interesting item about yourself to remember you by: I was so desperate for money as an undergraduate that while homeless, I volunteered to have myself injected with radioactive water for a study using a PET scan. I made $500 for half an hour. I'll always wonder...
