The Five Minds for the Future

Posted on March 9, 2009 at 12:06pm 0 Comments

I think that we helping to educate students who have an eclectic composition. Our students' minds must be disciplined, respectful, creative, able to evaluate and synthesize information while also being ethical. Each part of the student's mind will help them be successful in all of the different aspects of their lives...personally, professionally and spiritually.

The Networked Student

Posted on March 9, 2009 at 12:00pm 0 Comments

I have found that if I allow my students to assume the role of the teacher when it comes to technology, I learn sooooo much! Students are able to multitask and I have tried so hard the past couple of weeks to try to allow my students to venture out in the networking world. I do have to stay on top of the monitoring, but they have risen to the occassion and increased my trust level with them! Teaching Networked Students has changed the whole dynamics of the classroom atmosphere.

Anatomy and Physiology Body Systems made interesting for seniors

I teach A&P for highschool seniors...I created a neat activity for exploring the Skeletal System. The students will work with a partner and "roam" throughout the building trying to find answers for a scavenger hunt. They are encouraged to bring a cell phone or camera to document some of the answers they discover. I will include a couple of questions as an example.....

Thank you so much for allowing me to use your book yesterday, I hope I am on my way to becoming a networked learner. I may need to borrow your head-set this afternoon. Thank you. JS

Carolyn,
There is a discussion strand in the Muscle Shoals group that gives the
details for each week on Classroom 2.0 Live. The directions to join their Ellumiante session are in your binder and you have
access to all of the documents in your binder on The Networked Learner (
http://www.thenetworkedlearner.com) under Tutorials. Hope this helps.

Hi Carylon, how has you week been going? What have you been doing in biology class this week? In APES we have been studying the effects of cities on the environment. We have a great biology teacher at Walker; her name is Emily Adams. If you would like an introduction, maybe your classes could collaborate on a project. Her web page is at: http://www.adamsexperience.org/
