Brian is the founder and President of Proove Biosciences. He brings over 15 years of experience in pharmaceuticals, and molecular diagnostics, with a focus on personalized medicine. Recently featured in an article on the “Powers to Be” in Biotechnology by San Diego Magazine, Brian leads with an entrepreneurial zeal and pragmatic business experience. A published author on over 15 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, Brian brings a passion for research and patient quality of life to the Company. Previously, he founded a nutritional genetics company called Salugen, worked in pharmacogenetics at Prometheus Laboratories, eBusiness at Johnson & Johnson, and corporate venture capital at Eli Lilly & Company. Brian’s passion to reduce or eliminate preventable deaths and illnesses began at 13 years of age, when his friend was killed in front of Brian’s home after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle. Brian wanted to protect other children from such tragedy and he led a student effort to pass the nation’s first bicycle helmet law for children in 1990 in Howard County, Maryland. He went onto to help pass over 300 similar laws nationwide. Brian is a community activist who has served on numerous charitable boards including the local American Red Cross. He currently serves as an elected member of the Board of the Education of Howard County, Maryland. He has also been an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at the local community college that articulates students to Babson College – the nation’s #1 undergraduate entrepreneurial program 13 years running. Brian’s efforts have been featured in numerous publications including Fortune and Wired magazines, The Washington Post, and The Baltimore Sun chose him as one of Maryland’s “Earthly Angels”.
