Ok, as I say good morning, I'll say good night to you. It sounds like your teaching is really cool. I wish I was with you. What are some of the other people with you doing? The mall sounds very interesting. Can't wait to hear and see. Hopefully they will let you take photos inside. Parents...we thought we had parent problems!!!! Love ya, Sue

Today was my 4th day teaching! It was gread! I taught them how to make: french toast, banana crumble & chili. My Jamaican student, Yanique made a delicious carrot juice for us. Tomorrow, July 4th I will start with a new group of students that I have never met before.
Can you believe that in China, the PARENT is always right? the teacher has no powers when it comes to the child. As you know, families are only allowed to have 1 child in China. This has created a problem because parents over spoil their child! The teacher in turn has to deal with this situation.
I am learning so much from a new culture!
People here are wonderful to us, they go out of their way to ensure that we are comfortable & happy. What more could one ask for?
As all of you are waking up to go to work, I am getting ready to go to bed!
Have a safe July 4th!~ ;)

On Saturday we will go and visit a famous Temple around here and we will attend a KUNG FU show as well. On Sunday, after church, some of my students will be taking me to the largest mall in the city. It seems like the cheaper items are on the bittom floor and as you go up, so do the prices. Prices for them go from Target prices to neiman's prices. I cannot wait to see this! Thank goodness that the exchange rate is in our favor 7 to 1. I will be window shopping only, I am on a budget and nowhere takes a credit card.
Love you all & have a great day at work!
hugs & kisses to all

I am crying. I came to terms with the people on Grand Cayman eating the turtles because they release and rehab them. I don't think they do that in China.
The shopping sounds kind of crazy. Oh my gosh! I've heard of them eating dog meat, actually one of my students wrote a column several years ago about his first time to try it. It sounds like Saturday will be busy.
Well, your boys are missing you. hahahahaha

In 1 of the restaurants we saw entire turtles that had been cooked and were ready to be served. They also have soup and other things they make with turtle.

Yesterday while walking, a woman was driving her bike with a small cart behind her. She was selling dog meat!

I cannot believe that there METRO supermarket looks like SAMS! You even need a membership to get in.

The new supermarket we went to yesterday also has a dept. store attached. On the 1st floor you have target like proces, on the 2nd floor you have Dillard's type prices and on the 3rd....unpriceable! (for the Chinese people of course, it is much cheaper for us on the dollar). I did not have time to go and look at things there yet. My students will be taking me to the largest mall in this city Sunday afternoon.

On Sat. we will be taken by the school to go and visit a famous temple. It is a 4 hour drive from here. We will also see a famous Kung Fu show. We will be back at our hotel by 10-11PM! It will be hard to get up at 7AM to make it to church on Sunday!
I miss you all! Keep in touch!

What a wonderful experience you are having. I've heard and seen photos of how crowded it is; glad you made it across the street.
Be sure to get some rest so you won't get sick.

I see you left a message earlier today, for some reason it didn't show up a few minutes ago.

Life is very exciting in China, I enjoy my 18 students a great deal! We have been having lots of fun together. Today we used the restaurant menus and the supermarket fliers that I brought from Houston. They could not get over how beautifull they were. They plan to laminate the supermarket fliers so they can teach math & ESL lessons with them.
After work, I was taken to 2 huge supermarkets! people here are rude and pushy in the market and in crowded places. I was amazed that we were not killed while crossing the street! Bikes, motocycles, buses, cars and people come your way from every direction. It amazes me that people don't get killed here!
I am exhausted! It hit me like a ton of bricks!
I taught my students how to use powerpoint and how to make games for their class. They could not believe that they were capable of learning all that in 3 hours! Tomorrow morning we are going back to the lab in order to make more presentations! In the afternoon I will teach them to cook!
This is a fantastic learning experience. I thank God for the new friends I have made here.

Well, how was your day? Or is is yesterday or tomorrow?? We spent the night in the emergency room. Steve evidently developed an allergy to shrimp. We had just finished eating shrimp and pasta, which I've fixed many times before, and he said he thought he was having a stroke. I didn't think that, but his face, chest and hands were bright red, he itched all over, had trouble breathing and felt like his pulse was pounding in his head. Don't worry about your future, he's OK today!!!!
What have you been up to this day?
Take care, love ya,
Sue

I can't believe how inexpensive everything is there.
OK, I'm leaving now. So I will check back later.
I miss you but I know you are right where you need to be at this time. Wish I was with you. Not sure China could take us together, KF maybe!!!!
Love ya.

I've sent you several messages this morning. I'm still having trouble figuring this message this out. I think it's working and then I get logged out. Oh well.
I'm getting ready to go exercise, then go to school for a little while. Tomorrow I'm going to take a photo of the FFA fistrict convention up in Montgomery, then Wedneday the editors and I are meeting at school.

What an exciting trip so far. Yes, sign me up for the daily massage. Oh my gosh, that sounds so relaxing. If you need a 10X, then get me a green dress in a 50X!

Your family is fine. Clint went to church with us yesterday and said he wished he could come to our church service and his Sunday school. If you get a chance you need to check out Dr. Flemming's sermon for yesterday. It had a good message of course, but it was really funny. After church Clint and I went to the Astro game with Lee Brady and her husband. It was a blast since the Astros won.
Steve passed his yearly physical for METRO so he can work another year--aren't you glad? HaHa!

We will be teaching ESL strategies to young adults who will later teach children during the school year. My curriculum consists of teaching them conversational English thru cooking traditional American dishes as well as teaching them the art of quilting.

On June 26th, five retired teachers and myself will be going on a mission trip to China. We will be landing in Shanghai and taking a smaller flight to Zhengziou, where we will be staying for almost a month. We will be visiting Xian and Shanghai before coming home.
