" Teachers are our heroes." :A Reflective Classroom Teacher 17

Highly effective teachers have always been our heroes. They are always quick to respond to the needs of others, especially ours needs. Without their counsel and encouragement, the journey into teaching would have been so much more difficult, if not impossible. If we have achieved any creditability as teachers, it is because of the feedback of our peers. Our peers taught us to do things in the classroom that were yet to be researched because they were effective.
We are reminded that before there were across the curriculum theories, our collogues taught themes because it made sense to them to utilize the strengths of each teacher and to demonstrate how interconnected subject matter really was. Most teachers had their own methods of accountability. It was called pride in your profession and in your individual work ethic.
Advanced placement was a challenge put forth to some students to do more than what was expected. The implementation was without fanfare or special recognition. If you could do more, you did more. That positive expectation by the teacher became the norm for his or her classroom.
At risk children were the ones who tried stunts on the monkey bars without the thought of danger. At risk was recognized and was minimized with swift intervention. It did not have to reach full maturity before it was lanced.
