" Summers Off" :A Reflective Classroom Teacher 28

We envy those of you who are just starting this venture. We truly wish that we were just starting our journey. Mr. Bovill would like to state the very worst day he ever had as a teacher; was still pretty good. It is the only job in the world where your heart can be broken and fixed in an instant.
We have worked with things and we have worked with people; we much prefer working with people. We both needed the relationships that were created in the classroom.
Without sounding too idealistic; we would like to present some secondary reasons as to why we became teachers.
1. We wanted a profession where it was possible to achieve prestige for a job well done.
2. If we were effective, I could be a positive influence.
3. Each day, the experiences could be varied.
4. If we were effective, we could have job security.
5. Although our income would be limited, there could be a steady growth and compensation would be constant.
6. We could perpetuate a group of our peers to advise us and offer instant feedback.
7. There could be a hierarchy of authority to provide leadership and direction.
8. There could be a common set of goals and philosophy to work towards.
9. We could be a part of a community.
10. We could establish lifetime relationships.
11. It could be, if we were effective, a rewarding reflective and objective life.
12. I could also have summers off from teaching and experience other employment.
