It is a mess to say the least. I would say politicians are to blame because they create standards they don't understand and then leave educators to make it work or clean up the mess. In Michigan we have a governor from the business world and he wants schools to look like businesses. If states would work together to create national assessments it would be great!

I agree totally!  One of my  quotes on the front page of my book echoes those sentiments!
