I reviewed the technology survey I gave to the students two weeks into the school year today. I tabulated the data for the second survey and wanted to look back at the first survey. The survey asks the students to rate the use of technology as a tool for different levels of learning and thinking, computer applications used at school, and level of engagement when using technology at school. The computer applications used the most are Word, Excel and Powerpoint, but students are interested in using other computer applications. The students feel that they use technology for lower level learning and thinking exercises. I am curious to see how teachers respond to the same questions. And lastly, students have been evenly divided for both surveys on the level of engagement with learning with technology. Half of the students feel that equally engaged or less engaged when using technology in school. I am hoping to find more resources on how to improve engagement when teaching with technology. Are we not using technology effectively? How can we improve?
