A few weeks ago in class we made a character poster using Excel. The assignment was to find a picture of yourself, a word that describes you, and the definition of the word. We could put it on the poster however we liked---using creativity. I really enjoyed this assignment and I also learned a lot from it. I never knew you could do something like this using Excel, so I was very interested to see how it worked. I always thought Excel was just for crunching numbers and scientific things. I had a lot of fun picking out a picture to use and a word that described me. My final product turned out well and I was pleased with it. I think this could be used in several ways and I will most likely use it in my classroom. I think there are several ways you could use it as a teacher, but my favorite way would be to use it to make the classroom posters. It would save so much money and allow you to be creative with the class rules and such. You could also use it as an assignment for the children in several ways. Depending on what subject you were teaching, they could make a poster on Excel conveying the main points of the lesson. I think the children would enjoy this but you would have to make sure it was age appropriate. It is not a hard assignment, but certainly elementary age children could not use it. I am glad I was introduced to this program. I think it could also be put to good use outside of the classroom. You could use this to make a collage for a friend, or for yourself. Me and Kelsie talked about using this program to make a Christmas card for our friends, just as something silly to do. All in all, this is a neat program and I enjoyed learning about it. I think it will come in handy some day.
