So much of this reading and information was familiar to me.  Teaching in a school that has a one-to-one laptop initiative, our district is working to merge the "'Legacy' content and 'Future' content" in our classrooms.  This transition has not been a walk in the park.  There are a large number of staff who are Digital Immigrant with no plans of changing.  Then there are those of us who are Digital Immigrants, but with a desire to bring technology into the classroom.

As a Business/Marketing teacher, I have the advantage and encouragement to bring technology and numerous forms of media to teach and "hold the attention" of my students.  Allowing them to demonstrate their learning in, what some consider to be a non-traditional way, has been so exciting for my students and me.  My students are creating their own future every few seconds.

My district understands and has embraced the 21st Century learner.  We are working to educate these learners to be responsible, productive learners for all of their future endeavors.  There have been many conversations around the fact that the generation of students in the classroom and those to come, will be creating careers for themselves that we never even considered - all because of the advancements in technology and the students ability to embrace it with ease.
