Well, a new year is a time for new experiments, right? So yesterday I played with iMovie and made my first video! I have to confess: it was TOTALLY FUN. This is not actually for one of my online classes, but is instead part of my "other" online life, promoting Latin and Greek language study online... although I had so much fun with this video that I think I might invent some videos to share with my online classes too! Anyway, I've embedded the video below, and if you'd like to read an English translation of the Latin fable that is being told here, you can find that my Aesop wiki. The images that illustrate the video are from early editions of Aesop's fables published in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, which I collect at my aesopica.net website. The video comes to you courtesy of another ning.com community, eClassics.ning.com (which of course I can recommend to any of you with an interest in Latin or Greek... it is not a very active ning, alas, but I keep hoping more people will start to participate). Meanwhile, I am very proud of myself for making this video: it is my first! :-)

Very nice ! it's strange for me because in France, we don"t speak Latin like you... I'll give infos and links to e.Classics for my colleagues teaching latin in my school !

Hi Vincent, the business of how people read Latin has become, sadly, very divisive in this country because so many American Latin teachers don't actually speak any foreign language fluently except for Latin, which is dead, so there are no native speakers to learn from. I heard completely different ways of reading Latin when I lived in Poland and when I lived in Italy; I guess I read in a quasi-Polish way (which is probably the German way, too, although I haven't lived in Germany, so I don't know). I'm guessing the French way might sound like the Italian way, which is BEAUTIFUL - but it's not how I learned to read! :-)
