Tonight I learned yet more about the “crisis” we face in education. We have only introduced a small slice of the “big picture”. The one all of us write about collectively and passionately in this space in the Blogoshpere.

Are we powerful enough in our own districts, when our social networks fail us, and they will fail us like everything else does, can we survive longer than our opponents who are of such forceful voice?

I hope I am not disappointed this time. I loved this quote --- Chris Lehmann says it so well here!

"It's really not about the computers. School 2.0 is older than that. School 2.0 is the tradition of Dewey. School 2.0 is born out of the idea that active, engaged, constructivist learning will lead to active, engaged students and people."

However.....have we not passed through a zone where we can't, won't, refuse!, to DO learning without the technology? Isn't it time we can now say it is a lot about the technolgies....that it is the driving force?

... especially when you believe that the Web is US and the machine is the web.

Wow! I'm glad I wandered in here. I know this is an old post, but I hear and feel your passion.

I'm no longer working in a traditional school, but instead am working in a charter school (East Central KS) and cannot ever imagine trying to cage my passion within the choking confines of traditional education again. We have got to not only free our children, but also ourselves!

I'm with you sister! ;-) Let's do it! If you're interested in doing some collaboration (and I know you likely are, if you're a friend of K Honeycutt), please drop into our new group about distance collaboration (http://www.classroom20.com/group/distancecollaborations).

I work with grades 5-8, but we don't confine ourselves to our birthdates! We work with everyone! In the past 2 weeks, we've collaborated with not only high schoolers, but also 1st graders! I LOVE middle school!
