Its quite hard to put together the funding for an art field trip to Milan to see Da Vinci's 'The Last Supper' in person. looking at a print of the famous painting isn't quite the same.

All that changed yesterday as officials yesterday put the famous painting online in stunning detail. How stunning? How about 16 billion pixels? Thats right 16 billion pixels or 1600 times better that the typical 10 megapixel camera. The website Haltadefinizione allows viewers to zoom into amazing details such as the transparent glasses. It also allows you to see the degradation of this painting. What a wonderful opportunity for students to check out this amazing painting.

Wouldn't this be great for other famous paintings?
