Transforming Teaching and Learning Survey

At the end of October, I will have the privilege of attending an education summit at Google entitled, "Breakthrough Learning in a Digital Age ". Before this event, I will be blogging on the topic of transforming teachers' practices with digital technologies.

I have some pretty specific ideas in mind that I'd like to include in my blog posting. I also would like… Continue

New listserv for charter school teachers

Cross-posted in several places....

http://groups.google.com/group/charterschoolconnections

I could have started another ning... but I thought I'd start with a good old-fashioned listserv!

I'm starting an unofficial and informal listserv for people interested in or working in charter schools across the country. The inspiration for this is the wonderful ISED listserv… Continue

World Languages and Cultures

Cross posted from the Global Education Collaborative ning:

I'm meeting with a group of middle school world language teachers on Monday to discuss technology integration ideas. Languages taught in this school district include: Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, German, Italian, French and Spanish.

Busy updating my stuff....

A couple of updates:

1) I've changed the name of my blog from A Teacher's Life to High Techpectations. There's another Teacher's Life out there now, and frankly, the title was just booooooring. Not sure if I like my new one yet, but time will tell. You can find the blog at http://elemenous.typepad.com.

2) Last fall, I started a ning for teachers within my organization. This ning thing was new to everyone, and by keeping it private, we just didn't have the numbers to drive… Continue

Spam Scam Alert!!

This is what I sent out to many people in my address book tonight and I thought others my benefit from my *cough* experience.

If you are receiving this email, it is because you came in contact with me via email sometime in the last decade. There is a nefarious social networking site that has spammed people's address books, including mine unfortunately. Please do not accept any invitations to join anything appearing to be from… Continue

Developing Our Own Standards for Global Education

Over at the Global Education Collaborative ning, I've suggested that we start building our own set of standards on global ed for students, pre-service teachers, teachers, and administrators. If you're interested, take a peek and join the ning. Once we have some people on board for this project, I'll establish a wiki for this purpose.

Excuse multiple crossposts -

Julene Reed and I are teaching a workshop at NECC on global

collaboration, and I've set up a series of resources to demonstrate

during this class. I hope that these resources will live on as people

become interested in sharing resources used to teach global awareness

concepts. Please consider jumping in and joining any of these groups.

Some of them are already seeded with material, but others are just

getting started.… Continue

I mentioned in the forum earlier that I found a cool link to ThinkFree in my new college alumni networking site... tonight I found something else that was interesting. It's the blog of another Beloit grad who is an innovation journalist/consultant and she has some interested innovation references in her blog's sidebar. She also blogs about this… Continue
