About Me
Bill Tolley is Instructional Coach and Head of History at the International School of Curitiba, Brazil.

He formerly taught Advanced Placement World History and Global History and supervised the Model United Nations at Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics in East Harlem, New York. Prior to his tenure in New York City, Bill served as the Academic Counselor at Ewha Girls' Foreign Language High School in Seoul, South Korea where he also taught Writing, International Studies and World History. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Middle Eastern Studies from Rutgers University, a Master of Arts in Social Studies Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and a graduate certificate in School Supervision and Leadership from Johns Hopkins University.

At the International School of Curitiba, Bill is responsible for the following classes:

12th Grade IB History of the Americas
11th Grade IB World History of the 20th Century
10th Grade Academic Leadership
9th Grade Academic Leadership


Bill's research and professional interests include:

*Guiding educators and students in developing 21st Century Learning Fluencies
*Designing Future-Facing schools and educational programs
*Building Cosmopolitan Macro and Micro Narratives for World Citizens;
*Exploring the possibility of a Global Ethics based on human universals;
*Fostering Cultures of Achievement among students of all ability levels and backgrounds;
*Facilitating global awareness, social justice and informed activism among students, educators and community intellectuals;
*Developing world-historical imagination and analysis among secondary students and;
*Maintaining Intellectual Communities via hybrid platforms and Personal Learning Networks.

Bill has also designed extensive curriculum materials for AP World History, IB World History, IB History of the Americas and World Studies Courses.

He firmly believes Thom Yorke was the 5th Beatle and that the Italians should be permanently disinvited from international football tournaments.
