Yancy Oshita is an independent consultant specializing in helping K-20 educators to improve teaching and learning through technology, from strategic planning to vendor assessment.
Oshita brings more than 25 years of enterprise technology experience with some of the most well-known and early stage companies. Most recently, he served as executive vice president at Wimba, where he led corporate strategy, product and industry marketing, marketing communications, customer community, and global field operations. He successfully expanded the company into the K-12 segment, focusing on understanding 21st Century challenges and how collaborative technologies can impact student achievement and professional development. Before joining Wimba, Oshita was Chief Operating Officer of MobileGates, a start-up pioneer of location-based wireless services. He led business development and redirected the company as a mobile advertising network. Previously, Oshita was Chief Marketing Officer of INFONXX, where he spearheaded the industry’s first SMS directory search service. Prior to that, Oshita served at Oracle as senior director, Global Industry Marketing, where he led the telecom industry strategy that resulted in over $400 million in strategic acquisitions. He also was senior managing director, Oracle Consulting, where he oversaw a $20 million consulting practice that delivered solutions to clients such as AT&T, Emerson, Banco Nacion, and The Hudson Bay. Before Oracle, Oshita was senior director, Worldwide Industry Marketing at Teradata, where he earned a U.S. patent-pending for originating business impact models used to help companies and government agencies understand the return on investment (ROI) of technology investments. Before Teradata, Oshita held a number of leadership positions at NCR Corporation.
Oshita received his MBA in Management Information Systems from University of Dayton, and his bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge. His research work on critical success factors in planning and deploying information technology is featured two books: The CRM Handbook and Accelerating Customer Relationships: Using CRM and Relationship Technologies.
