I earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in special education from the University of South Alabama in 1990. I worked for several years with adults who have disabilities at the Independent Living Center of Mobile. I also taught in a self-contained classroom setting for the Mobile County Public School System.
I have worked for the past 15 years as a Program Coordinator and Adaptive Technology Specialist at the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) regional center in Mobile. I have spent a large amount of this time developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and training related to the application of adaptive technology in a variety of contexts. Legally blind myself, I have personal experience in living with a disability and understand the importance of being able to adapt.
Fall semester 2004 I began working on a Master’s degree in Instructional Design at USA. I concentrated my efforts in the program on developing instructional and learning strategies that will address the needs of the masses with the diversity to give all students an opportunity to engage in meaningful learning. I was a member of the IDD student group since 2004 serving as Vice President 2005 – 2006, and President 2006 – 2007.
In 2007 I completed my Master’s program and I am currently working on a PhD in instructional Design and development and teaching and undergraduate course EDM 310, At the University of South Alabama
