In Nyack NY, north of NYC, a seed is forming. Flat World Knowledge, a company bent on disrupting the textbook business, is getting ready to move into a private beta next spring with 10 textbooks in business and economics. Jeff Shelstad, CEO, and Eric Frank, CMO, left regular textbook publishing where, as of late, publishers are fighting to keep their head above water by jacking up prices and skewing the revision process. doing some research/thinking about the creepy treehouse idea and came across your debunking post

taught for 25 years in grades 7-12 in a big mall town, but I'm now in "higher" education

the treehouse seems too Simpsons t of terror to work for me, but I agree with the concept

refining thoughts for my own post...

I was a classroom teacher--language arts/social studies at the middle school level for 10 years... Recently moved to another state, so now things are up in the air while I decide if I want to go back to the classroom or not. I have a little more time currently, so I get to spend time doing stuff like this--I'm shocked at what I've been missing! I thought I was ahead of the curve--not even close! I'm dabbling with things like animoto, blogging, pageflakes--to keep occupied, but I think ultimately the kids will call me back to school... :)

Have added the app and have sent it to others at the Uni. I noticed that Psychology are using it at the moment (at least someone is, may not be a directive of the School)

Thanks again.

Hi Michael - I really like what you do. My site at SEEdebate.org is also free and is an environment controlled by teachers. We focus on current events. Would you take a look when you get a chance and let me know what you think? Feel free to create an educator account so that you can see the student comments...
