- I am a single mother and a journalist. I left the world of journalism, though, to become a teacher. At the ripe old age of 37, I am starting a new career and I am a bit scared. But I am a special ed. para in my local school district and I know that education is the career for me. I love it. I cannot wait until I am in my own classroom.
