Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Lindsey Gervais. I am a graduate research assistant in UConn’s Educational Psychology department, writing to you about an exciting opportunity called the GlobalEd 2 Project. The GlobalEd 2 (GE2) Project is a federal grant to Dr. Scott Brown, who is a Professor at UConn, and Dr. Kimberly Lawless, a Professor and Associate Dean at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Together they have received a major grant from the US Department of Education in order to field test a social studies curriculum called GlobalEd 2. GE2 engages students in project-based learning through in-class and online activities. This interdisciplinary project is delivered by social studies teachers but simultaneously enhances social studies, science literacy, and writing skills for 7th and 8th graders. We are actively recruiting social studies teachers as part of this federally sponsored field test.

Teachers who participate receive five iPads to use in their classroom and receive stipends for attending three days of online professional development during the summer and for facilitating the implementation of the curriculum in their classroom throughout the fall. Your school would also receive a stipend for your participation.
