I am a qualified and experienced teacher of English and teacher trainer in the fields of English Language, ICT and project-based learning.
I worked for the British Council in East Asia for 14 years from 1998 to 2012, the last five of which I lead on the ‘Connecting Classrooms’ international school programme in 7 East Asian countries.
I pioneered online communities of practice for teachers in the region, developing and managing, ‘Connecting Classrooms Online’, which was the precursor to the British Council’s global flagship teachers’ community, ‘Schools Online’
I am passionate about enhancing teaching and learning through the use of technology and a strong believer that it is something that can be learned and embraced by educators and learners of all ages in all circumstances, countries and cultures.
After leaving the British Council, I has devoted his time to providing support and training in ICT in Education as an independent consultant.
I have set up, ‘Classroom Life’, a global social media learning network for young learners, which is a popular informal online educational experience, currently being enjoyed by students in East Asia as a more formal and directed way of socializing with peers online while providing structured learning opportunities.
My recent assignment was a ground-breaking mission to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), where I worked with UNESCO China and UNICEF with the DPRK government, providing training for teachers in the theory and practice of integrating the use of ICT in subject-based teaching and learning.
I am very much looking forward to learning and sharing experiences with members of Classroom20
