I consider myself a new teacher, but I've been involved in the field of education since 2003 when I graduated college. Prior to my teacher preparation, I worked as a research assistant for a research organization in the education and human development division. Although it was a rich experience, I feel that teaching is the most direct and immediate route to impact the lives of children. I accepted my first teaching position at a progressive charter school in Newark, NJ. I was raised in NJ outside Newark, so I feel particularly vested in revitalizing the community. I'm interested in: elementary education, special education, social studies and community studies, progressive education, urban revitalization, teacher professionalism, and integration of technology in schools.
