Carol Scholz was Idaho Teacher of the Year for 2008 and is currently entering the dissertation phase as a doctoral student in Education with a specialization in Technology at Walden University. She is the Digital Content Coordinator for the Idaho State Department of Education and is leading the development of the state level LMS in the area of digital content including Open Education Resources (OER) and designed the statewide 21st Century Classroom lesson plan template. Carol serves as the Idaho National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) liason. Carol was the former Alternate Assessment Coordinator and in that capacity lead the development of the first online ePortfolio assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities in the United States. Carol has managed several grants from the U.S. Deptment of Education and private foundations and has been the receipient of several educational technology grants. Carol has been an adjunct instructor for Northwest Nazarene University teaching Grant Writing for Educators as well as post graduate level National Technology Standards for Administrators. Prior to her work at the SDE Carol taught visually empaired, students with signfiicant cogntive disabilities as well as elementary students. Carol also served as an assistive technology mentor and has knowledge and experience in the application of the Principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
