I am the Educational Technology Specialist at Windrush School, a small independent school in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is my third year at this particular school, although I have been teaching for over 20 years.
I started out as a 3rd grade teacher in the Oakland Public Schools, became certified as a Language Development Specialist. With that certification I was assigned responsibility for the school's ESL pull-out program.
After teaching in OPS for seven years, joined the adjunct faculty of JFK University. I taught the Educational Technology requirement and Models of Education overview course. I also supervised student teachers.
Concurrently, I took a position at Seven Hills School, Walnut Creek, CA, an independent school, teaching technology to K-8 students. I developed the school website, acted as a Middle School Advisor, wrote a multitude of tech curriculum, plans and reports and took part in several NAIS accreditation reviews. I was there for 10 years, leaving after a school reorganization for my current position.
Education is my second career; prior to that I served in the United States Navy, primarily as a paralegal specialist. I left the service as a Chief Petty Officer in 1987.
