About Me: My name is Ahmed Omran; I am an educator and a freelance web developer. I have lived most of my life in the Ottawa region, graduating from Ridgemont High School and the University of Ottawa (with two degrees – Major in Biology and Bachelors of Education). I love science, technology, education and gaming. My teaching philosophy revolves around three principles: 1. the goal is to achieve meaningful learning, 2. students need to be active contributors rather than passive receivers, and 3. the curriculum is a means of teaching critical thinking, problem solving and creativity. To me an educated person is someone who can find the information they need, analyze it, and then use that information to solve a problem. Through education we can make a world where environmental sustainability, globalization, and human rights are not a luxury but part of the fabric of life.
