what others have added? Would this be on the wiki?
I seem to remember your mentioning somewhere about sharing voicethreads? That we haven't figured out yet but I went to the freetech4teachers you suggested, but didn't find directions. Rather it suggested that we would have to pay $60 a year for a subscription. Did you find the same thing? I notice that Mary Freeman mentioned Audacity for voicethreads. Thought I would check that out next, but any experience you have had would be appreciated as we all l;earn together how to use these tools.
Is there any way we can be notified when someone adds a comment since I feel I have been out of touch.…
ation, the platform is a valuable one for instruction.
So far, we have some ideas that can be expanded upon, but are looking for more input and I could not think of a better place than here. We have looked at a variety of applications and have some ideas, but want to leave this fairly open.
This is what we have so far:
iTunes = iTunes
iPhoto = Picasa
iMovie = Movie Maker (as well as Photo Story)
iWeb = ?
iDVD = Windows DVD Maker (Vista)
Garageband = ? (We've played with a few apps, but need something ideal for Podcasting) We know of Audacity but are looking for better.
Also looking for suggestions for iWork.
Ideas?
I look forward to the responses.…
class blog ( http://mswift.edublogs.org/student-work/ ). At my school they play nicely. At the kids' homes, they're getting messages that they have to download the file, which takes a LONG time on dial up. I was thinking I could use Gcast or drop.io. I've never used either one and really don't want to spend much more time on this. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'm not ready for podcasting yet, but hope to get there some day. It has already taken hours, but I don't want the kids to miss the opportunity to share at home or with relatives. I used audacity, but just saved the recordings as .wav files.…
As summer winds down, I am once again excited about what technology has to offer, -especially in education. I love the interactive white boards, updated phone systems, and of course internet open…
More portable than a Smartboard , has the same tools, and can be shared. Some things require LCD Projectors. That's another $700.
Utilizing Open Source software for podcasting and blogging cuts a lot of cost and Audacity can be edited easily by students. Even the addition of an iPen ($100) can make a difference.
And by the way the eInstruction (Student Response System) is having a special at the moment (at least in my area for new customers). It's $1500 for a set of 32 RF clickers, an iPen slate, and their Exam View Suite of assessments. Again this can be shared by multiple classes.
Digital cameras are great if your teachers will use them, same for DV cameras. It all depends on where your teachers are in terms of integrating the tools into the classroom.
See how easy it is to spend other peoples money?

some take the schools home to study and review vocab and for tests. I think there is one on my page here and I have them all on my site at www.masterymaze.com. Go to the subjects pages for US and Ancient World History and you can see them all. They download them to their iPods from the site and also get them in iTunes as MasteryCast. I have them on the site so anyone can use them.
Camtasia is really easy to use if you district is willing to buy it. It is not free, but to me worth every penny. My district has purchased several licenses for teachers who are using it.
I am exploring the iQuiz function right now for a Blog I am writing. I'll post it here as well as on iPod Educators.

alize your recording by saying who the creator is and some other important stuff.
3. I go to http://www.archive.org/ open a free account and upload the file, the mp3.
4. Once uploaded, the site gives you the URL where your podcast is.
5. Go to the site and click on the right bottom corner of the player to get the embedding code, select it, copy it, and paste it in a webpage. You may use FrontPage or any other html editor. You can customize the design of the page by adding text or any other element you want.
6. Finally, embed the song or recording -mp3- and upload the webpage to your server. It has the player so everyone would be able to listen to it.
I hope this can help.

You can access Google Map in Spanish at: http://maps.google.es/
You can access a Facebook like program in Spain at: www.tuenti.com You will need an invite from someone who is already part of the system. One of my current students is from Spain, so if you don't know any users, I'll have him send you an invite.
You can access a Spanish news feed like Dig.com at: http://meneame.net/
We do podcasting in Spanish with Audacity at: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
You can have students find Spanish language videos at: http://www.dailymotion.com/us
*Remember to go to the flag at the top and change it from US to a Spanish speaking country.

e class instruction, study halls, and one-on-one help. We keep very busy.
We need to teach them what they will need to use now and in the future. So, what does that entail? Everything from basic word processing and typing to creating multimedia projects such as Photo Story3, Movie Maker, etc., yes, even PowerPoint since so many teachers want it (and it quick).
The kids love everything that's not mainstream. They like podcasting using Audacity. I've been trying Web 2.0 tools--some work, some don't. I tried a blog, but they didn't seem to care for it. I don't give homework because I don't see them more than once a week.
I'm always looking for new ideas. I'm heading for NECC in a few days, and hopefully learn more!
