I am passionate about educational technology! I am an advocate for using educational technology effectively to improve teaching and learning. I enjoy discovering and exploring new technology tools and resources and sharing them with other educators.
I have 25 years of professional experience as an educator. I am a former public elementary and middle school teacher who now works in higher education helping to prepare others to join the field. My current position is director of educational technology for the College of Education at University of Phoenix. . In this role, I work to integrate technology into College of Education curriculum and create tools to help education students leverage technology resources in their own K-12 classrooms. I also teach online courses for the College of Education. I have held previous roles with the college including director of curriculum for Advanced Programs and program design manager. In these roles, I led the development of curriculum for five of the College’s graduate and undergraduate education degree programs.
I am currently completing my doctorate in educational leadership with a specialization in educational technology.
I focus on volunteer involvement in non-school tutor/mentor programs reaching kids in high poverty neighborhoods. On http://www.tutormentorconnection.org I post my own ideas, plus links to information, articles, forums, etc. that people can use to help build more and better tutor/mentor programs, and to help volunteers and kids succeed in these programs.
The people I'm trying to educate are not just the kids, but the adults who need to be more consistently involved, with time, talent and dollars, to help kids have the age-appropriate resources needed. This aims at expanding the "public will" that is missing to fund these types of activities in all the places where they are needed.
I'm trying to connect with universities and curriculum development people who might apply their talents to helping educate this adult population. If you know folks who already do this, or phd students who might want to make this their career, please connect us.

I plan to add biographical information about myself next week and upload a photo, if I can find one that I like.
