I am the director of the Northwest Activities Center Intel Computer Clubhouse. This is a technology-based after-school program for youth ages 8 - 18. I enjoy teaching and learning. My goal is to assist disadvantaged youth in achieving their highest potential. I love to see members of my program graduate high school and go on to college.
Hello Carolyn and welcome to classroom20. There is a lot on this site to keep you and your students learning many web2.0 tools, so keep your eye on the discussions, join groups and make friends.
Hi Carolyn, I lead the Tutor/Mentor Connection in Chicago. I was a speaker at the 2007 Computer Clubhouse conference held in Evanston. I encourage you to read the articles on my blog and consider ways students in Computer Clubhouse locations could take on a similar role of building visibility and drawing resources to themselves, and other youth organizations, in their own communities.
I host a conference every May and November in Chicago and hope you and other Clubhouse leaders will participate.
