Limiting Contact Lists in Google Apps

I want to make contacts available to my sixth grade class in Google Apps Edu, but all I can find is the all or nothing method which makes all e-mail addresses available in the district. I've created an organization under the main domain. I'm trying to only share contacts within that organization. Any help would be appreciated. You should be able to set up a Group for the classes without enabling a shared address book. Members of the group should then be able to interact with each other individually or as a group.
