Global Awareness & the Built Environment - Steve Cannon

For my global awareness lesson I found a great collaborative resource in the GLOBE Program. The purpose of the website is to facilitate students research by connecting other students and research scientists around the world.  For my course my students will collect data for a building site and post the information on the GLOBE Program site to connect with others.  This will help the students understand different approaches based on culture as well as access research that other students are performing on similar subjects.  Although the results may not completely apply to their project my class will have a greater understanding of environmental restrictions in different cultures.  I plan on trying to implement this into the site analysis portion of the course in the fall semester, unfortunately the spring semester is almost over and I cannot implement it now.  This exercise will be a great learning experience about cultural differences in other built environments and the addition of professional communication with the scientists.
