The activity that I chose to have my students participate in was one from Epals. I found a class of 4th-5th graders from Turkey that was looking for another class to exchange emails with. The class from Turkey wanted to learn more about different cultures and the daily lives of students from another country. The students were to communicate throughout the first Trimester through email but I decided to begin the lesson by teaching my students about where Turkey is geographically located and some facts about the country. The students also received a mini lesson on how to write an email.

This lessons global awareness component was the class being exposed to students their age from another country. The students in both classes will see how each other live and the differences and similarities that each other face on a daily basis.

Hi Kevin! This looks like a great activity/lesson for your students to learn about another culture. I like your idea of teaching them about the country before they begin interactions. It is also a great opportunity to teach them proper email netiquette :).
