I believe there are many schools out there struggling to figure out how to increase access to technology; shrinking budgets will all but kill any wishes of a 1:1 program.  About two years ago, I started looking for schools who already have BYOL programs and while not many in number, they have seized the opportunity to leverage the devices owned by their students.  Perfect solution?  Hardly, but I imagine we're not alone in trying to make this type of program work.  In January, we will launch our BYOL program with 7th graders; you can find out more information on our wiki: http://fhsdppl.wetpaint.com.  I am interested in forming a network of schools who already have a BYOL program or are thinking about it, so we can learn from each other.  It's important to get the conversations going and then sustain those conversations,so please jump right in!  I'll be back with a list of the BYOL schools I've found in my travels, along with some thoughts about the obstacles we've encountered along the way and how we're dealing with them.
