I've been reading a little bit about backchanneling over the last couple of days. This blog post I came across outlines a little about it while this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WPVWDkF7U8http:// is a clear demonstration of how I think it could be used.

However, my classes are quite small (only 12-14 students max) and they don't bring their laptops to class as the lessons are more interactive and don't really involve note-taking. At the same time, I would like to be able to create a Twitter feed or some other kind of message thread that they could contribute to throughout the lesson.

My idea would be for them to use their mobile phones in class to add ideas to the thread. I know that they can post to Twitter via SMS, but they would have to pay for each message they send and I would rather they didn't have to do this.

What I would like to happen is for them to be able to send messages via Bluetooth and then have them show up on the computer somehow (yes, I know this sounds a little vague, but this is why I'm asking for help :-)). My classroom has a computer and smartboard and I think I could install a bluetooth adapter on the computer. But that's where my inspiration runs out...does anyone know anyway the students could send messages via bluetooth and have it show up on the board in some form (either on webpage or on a program of some description installed on the computer). Grateful for any help anyone can give me....
